How to keep in touch after the holiday

During a trip as part of a tour group you will find that you meet a lot of new people and that you will want to stay in touch with some of them. Some will become close friends while others will just become casual acquaintances. Fortunately staying touch is a lot easier than it used to be so there is no reason not to.

The easiest way to keep in touch after the holiday is to use Facebook. This has made it very easy to keep in touch with a lot of people so you will probably find that you end up adding most of the people that you meet on your trip as friends. This can be a great way to stay in touch but it can be a tad impersonal so if there are some people who you actually want to become friends with you are going to want to find other ways to stay in touch.

Somewhat more personal than using Facebook is communicating by email. This will allow you to communicate individually with the people that you have met so you will be able to get to know them better. Of course if you really want to be friends you will probably find that the phone remains the best way to stay in touch. Actually being able to speak to somebody is a lot more personal and will bring you together a lot faster than email will.

If you really want to be friends with the people that you have met on your trip you will find that the best way to stay in touch with them is to actually get together. Of course this will be a lot easier if you live in the same city. If that is the case you will want to make an effort to get together after you get back from your trip. Obviously you are not going to want to do it right away but you also don't want to leave it too long. You will probably find that in the early days most of your conversations are about the trip but that slowly will move on to talking about other things.

If you meet somebody that you want to be friends with but you do not live in the same city you may find that the best way to stay in touch is to plan future trips together. Clearly you will need to talk on the phone or by email to make this happen but it can be a great way to spend time with your new friends. Many people find that they plan trips every year with the people they met as part of the tour group and that this is the only time they spend together. They essentially become vacation friends.
