Horseback riding tours
One of the great ways to get off of the beaten track is to take a horseback riding tour. This will allow you to see places that you would never be able to see otherwise. In general arranging a horseback riding tour on your own can be a challenge so you are probably going to want to go as part of a group.
The first thing that you are going to have to think about when you take a horseback riding tour is just how much experience you have on a horse and how comfortable you are with riding. If you have never ridden a horse before you are probably not going to want to go on a multiday trip for example. This is not to say that you can't do it but in general it is a good idea to get some experience with riding horses before you commit to such an ambitious trip.
It is also going to be important that when you plan a horseback riding tour as part of a group that you are part of a group that is at an appropriate level of skill. You are not going to want to be part of a group of expert riders if you have never been on a horse before. The last thing that you are going to want is to slow the group down or feel pressure to keep up. At the same time if you do have a lot of experience riding being with a group of beginners is probably not going to be all that much fun either.
There are all kinds of horse riding tours that you can take depending on how ambitious you are. A lot of people will be content with a trip that involves a few afternoon rides as part of a trip that includes a lot of other activities while other people will want to go on a multiday ride that allows them to get off of the beaten track and see areas that few other people get to see. It is entirely up to you what kind of trip you take; just make sure that you choose one that is appropriate.
One of the keys to having a good horseback riding tour is to make sure that you go with an experienced operator. They will be able to provide you with a guide who knows the area you will be riding in and who has the horse skills that are necessary to make the trip a success. You will also want to make sure that the operator takes all of the necessary safety precautions and that they are able to provide you with quality horses. The best bet is to stick with a tour operator who has been working in the local area for a number of years.
